Ask anyone in Bloomsburg who's been to the Friday fish fry, and they'll tell you the same thing: the portions are serious. A full plate, two sides, and a price that still reads like 2005. That combination keeps the tables full and the takeout line moving every single week. The 4.6-star rating from 49 members and guests didn't happen by accident.

Lodge 436 sits on Old Berwick Road in a building that feels genuinely lived-in. Members describe walking through the door and feeling immediately at home, the kind of place where kids are welcome at the table and strangers don't stay strangers long. The lodge downsized over the years, as many chapters across Pennsylvania have, but what it kept is exactly what matters: a room full of people who actually know each other.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has been part of American civic life since 1868, and Lodge 436 carries that legacy forward through local charitable giving, youth programs, and community events that go far beyond the dining room. Membership here means something.

What We Offer

The fish fry is the headline act, offered every Friday and drawing regulars from across Columbia County. For $10 you get a generous piece of fish and a choice of two sides, a deal that holds up against anything else in the area. Takeout orders move fast, so arriving early on a busy night is always a smart call.

Beyond the dining room, Lodge 436 hosts member events, charitable fundraisers, and private gatherings throughout the year. The hall is available for community use, and the lodge actively supports youth initiatives, veterans programs, and local scholarships through the national Elks network.

Membership in the BPOE opens the door to a national fraternal organization with deep roots in service and fellowship. Lodge 436 welcomes prospective members who share a commitment to community and want more than a place to eat, though the food is genuinely a reason to show up.

"Went for Friday fish fry. They were out of fish. Waited over 35 minutes for our food. Maybe one waitress for diners, but all were running take-outs. Food was good and price was fair."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
